200% Tasmanian Renewable Energy Target
Once we reached the target of 100% self-sufficiency in 2020, we then legislated a Tasmanian Renewable Energy Target to double that production.
This means our target is to produce 21,000 gigawatt hours of electricity in one year, by 2040. This is 200% of our 2020 demand.
We also have an interim target to produce 15,750 gigawatt hours of electricity in one year by 2030. This will secure our industry and guarantee low-cost, reliable, and clean energy for all Tasmanians. At the same time, we’ll have enough renewable power to share with mainland Australia, moving the entire nation in the direction of positive change.
