Consultation open on water supply

This consultation seeks feedback on an amendment on the Water Miscellaneous (Delegation and Industrial Water Supply) Bill 2023 that aims to improve the prospects for the Tamar Irrigation Scheme to secure the demand levels required to benefit both irrigators and green hydrogen producers.

Importantly, any water supplied to green hydrogen producers will be sourced from the existing Hydro Tasmania water allocation, ensuring that no additional pressure is placed on Tasmania’s water supplies.

The draft Bill contains proposed amendments to enable Tasmanian Irrigation to supply bulk raw water to the Tasmanian Green Hydrogen Hub at Bell Bay.

Consultation will close on 8 August 2023.
