REAP Case management service

Case management service

To support major renewable energy project proponents seeking to develop in Tasmania ReCFIT provides a case management service.

It is one of the key initiatives set out under the Renewable Energy Approvals Pathway and will support the implementation of the Renewable Energy Coordination Framework and the Tasmanian Renewable Energy Target.

An overview of the different types of available assistance is provided in the document, case management service levels (PDF 407.0 KB)

By participating in the Renewable Energy Approvals Pathway (REAP), proponents gain access to the following key benefits:

Dedicated support

Each proponent is assigned a case management officer ensuring they receive timely and consistent advice and help reduce administrative burdens and facilitate smoother interactions between government agencies and project teams.

Cross-agency coordination

The REAP service promotes collaboration between multiple Tasmanian Government departments, which reduces duplication and conflicting guidance, providing clear and coordinated direction on project requirements.

Tailored guidance

Project proponents will receive regulatory mapping and detailed advice tailored to the specific needs of their project, helping them to anticipate challenges and meet project milestones on time.

Transparent process

The REAP provides a transparent framework for approval tracking, ensuring that proponents have visibility on the status of their applications and any outstanding actions that need to be addressed.

Eligibility

Case management services (standard and enhanced support options – see Case Management Service Levels (PDF 407.0 KB)) are available to all major transmission and generation renewable energy projects (i.e. greater than 30MW). The service is also available to smaller scale research and development projects that may be less than 30MW but involve new and emerging renewable energy technologies that align with the Government’s strategic priorities.

Currently the full case management service is only available to a small number of projects under the REAP Pilot program. It is envisaged that the full service will be available to all proponents in early 2025 once the process has been refined and evaluated.

Proponent expectations

To participate in the coordination service, proponents are expected to collaborate fully with the case management team and relevant agencies by adhering to terms and conditions. These will be provided to eligible proponents and cover the following key principles:

  • timely and accurate information sharing including project schedules, updates, and engagement and benefit sharing approach.
  • participation including project briefings, site visits and meetings.
  • responsive to guidance and feedback
